Curtin Village One of the older and more well preserved historic sites is Curtin Village and the Eagle Iron Works. Roland
Curtin, Governor of Pennsylvania during the Civil War, purchased
11,000 acres of land and erected the Eagle Iron
Works in 1810. The Iron Works was an iron producing center
from 1810 until 1921. By the mid 1800's it consisted of over 60 structures including the
Ironmaster's Mansion, a charcoal-fired iron furnace, rolling mill,
a forge, and a worker's village.
